General Council of the International Union of Notaries (UINL) convened in Munich, Germany, on May 25-28. The event was attended by the President of the Chamber of Notaries of Lithuania Marius Stračkaitis.
During the meetings chaired by UINL President Cristina Noemi Armella paid special attention to issues of assistance to Ukrainian notaries and the upcoming developments of the organization. Volodymyr Marchenko, the President of the Chamber of Notaries of Ukraine, who had to obtain special permission from the Ministry of Justice and other state institutions to leave Ukraine for a short time, addressed the General Council.
Mr. Marchenko showed video footage of destroyed notary offices in Kharkiv, Chernihiv and other cities. Currently, due to the war, out of more than 6,000 notaries in Ukraine, only about 2,000 can continue to work.
UINL is currently collecting funds for the affected Ukrainian notaries, the help can also be transferred to the charity fund "Save Ukrainian notaries and their families" established by the Chamber of Notaries of Ukraine.
The General Council meeting discussed the preparations for the UINL International Congress of Notaries to be held in Cancun (Mexico) in December of this year, where the notary organizations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be recognized as UINL full members. The congress also plans to elect a new leadership.
