Parliament increases role of notaries in prevention of unlawful enrichment

The amendments were initiated by the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė as means of prevention of the abuse involving faked debt notes, bills and the sale of shares.

The fight against unlawful enrichment has intensified in Lithuania 2010, following President's initiative and legislation amendments in the Penal Code. Hundreds of investigations have been opened into cases of unlawful enrichment since then.
