Notaries from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania have exchanged recent experience and acknowledged a fast development and progress of electronic legal services.The annual meeting of so-called Trilateral Council tok place in Latvia's capital Riga on September 26-27, 2019.
Lithuania was represented by the President of Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, Mr Marius Stračkaitis, and employees of the Chamber.
At the Council's meeting the delegates from each country introduced the recent notarial developments. Estonian notaries shared their fresh experience affirming the electronic apostille. Since introduction of e-apostille in late 2017, dozens of thousands of clients have enjoyed this notarial service. Estonian notaries also briefed their Baltic colleagues on the preparations to launch Version 3 of information system in early 2020, when remote validation of power of attorney documents will be introduced.
In Latvia notaries were enabled with affirmation of electronic apostille since July 1, 2019. For more than a year Latvian notaries have been able to perform other notarial deeds remotely.
Lithuanian delegation introduced the progress of so-called eNotaras (e-Notary) system, with Phase One already in operation.
On September 27, delegates from Baltic countries also attended the international seminar on money laundering prevention. This event was organized by the European Notary Network.
