Minister of Justice commends notarial self-control activities, envisions new notarial functions

"The Ministry of Justice rarely brings proceedings against notaries in the Court of Honor or iniciates extraordinary certification of notaries, because the Chamber of Notaries is actively doing this itself. This level of self-control shows maturity of this professional entity", Bernatonis said.

According to the Minister, the Government Program envisions review of some of the functions of courts. The functions which are not related to litigation might be transferred to other institutions, including notaries.

Minister Bernatonis said that competences of notaries might be expanded by notarial functions, such as issuing executive records based on notarized contracts, and other functions.
