The majority of Lithuanian respondents support the ban on the acquisition of real estate to Russian and Belarusian citizens in Lithuania, opinion poll shows.
When asked whether they agree with the prohibition for citizens of the Federation who do not have a temporary or permanent residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania to acquire real estate in Lithuania, 58% of respondents answered positively or rather positively. A further 12% viewed this proposal as satisfactory, 22% rather negatively or negatively, 8% did not know or did not answer.
When asked about the proposal to prohibit citizens of the Republic of Belarus who do not have a temporary or permanent residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania from acquiring immovable property in our country, 56% of the respondents answered positively or rather positively. Thirteen per cent of respondents assessed this proposal as satisfactory, 22 per cent rather negatively or negatively, 8 per cent did not know or did not answer.
The representative sociological survey was carried out by the Centre for Public Opinion and Market Research "Vilmorus" on behalf of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries. The survey was carried out on 15-23 March 2024. 1001 people were interviewed by means of face-to-face interviews, using the probability sampling method, keeping the proportions by age, gender and place of residence. Respondents were aged 18 and over. The survey took place in 26 Lithuanian cities and 47 villages.
