Lithuanians soften stance towards same-sex partnerships and marriages, poll shows

According to the sociological research, 69 per cent opposes the idea of legalizing same-sex partnerships, but 11 per cent supported them. The number of opponents has decreased since 2016 (74 per cent), and the percentage of supporters remained the same - 11 per cent.

Asked about their position regarding legalizing same-sex marriages, 74 per cent of respondents opposed such ideas, 9 per cent were in favor, a slight increase since 2016 (7 per cent in favor). The numeber of opponents also dropped from 80 per cent in 2016.

Commissioned by Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, Vilmorus company has surveyed the opinions of 1000 people in 21 urban and 26 rural areas in October, 2017.
