Residents of Lithuania trust notaries and policemen most among ten legal professions and institutions, opinion poll shows.
An independent institution of public opinion and market research Vilmorus was commissioned by Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries to carry out the survey of people’s confidence in ten legal professions and institutions. The survey has been conducted monthly starting June, 2018.
According to the polls, notaries and policemen share the top position of people’s confidence. Trust in notaries has shifted between 61 and 70 per cent in the period of June-December, 2018. Trust in policemen was slightly higher, varying between 65 and 69 per cent at the same period.
Bar association (lawyers) took the third position of public confidence, receiving 38 to 50 per cent of support.
According to the Vilmorus survey, the further layout was as follows:
4th position – Special Investigations Service (anti-corruption authority) – 30-38 per cent.
5th position – State Security Department – 28-36 per cent.
6th position – prosecutors – 27-32 per cent.
7th position – Ministry of Justice – 26-33 per cent.
8th position – judges – 27-32 per cent.
9th position – Competition Council – 12-18 per cent.
10th position – bailiffs – 13-16 per cent.
The opinion polls were conducted in more that 20 cities and 30 villages across Lithuania. Each time one thousand people have been questioned.
