On 13 December, the CNUE held its General Assembly in Brussels - the last one in this organisation this year under the presidency of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries.
In his report on his 2024 presidency, CNUE President Marius Stračkaitis provided an initial overview of the results achieved over the past year. Under his leadership, the CNUE focused on three main priorities: strengthening the notarial profession in Europe, digitising notarial activities, and supporting the Ukrainian notariat. In the implementation of the latter priority, EUR 40,000 of the Lithuanian Presidency's funds were allocated to the Ukrainian Chamber of Notaries' Charity and Support Fund "Save Ukrainian Notaries and Their Families".
The agenda of the General Assembly also included one of the CNUE’s key institutional milestones: the election of the president, vice-president, and board of directors for 2025. Luxembourg notary Cosita Delvaux was unanimously elected as the new CNUE president, while Roland Wadge, President of the Maltese Notarial Council, was elected as the new vice-president.
In her inaugural speech, Cosita Delvaux outlined the European notariat's priorities for the year ahead, particularly in the context of the new European legislature. Her action plan will focus on matters relating to the protection of vulnerable adults, cybersecurity, and the 10th anniversary of the European Regulation on internation successions.
