The Minister of Justice Rimantas Mockus welcomed the General Meeting of the members of the Chamber of Notaries, which took place in Panevėžys on March 29, 2025.
"We have a strong and modern notariat in Lithuania. It is the guarantor of public trust and the foundation of legal certainty. Therefore, we will only strengthen our shoulders further by strengthening it, promoting digitalization of activities and increasing the accessibility of services to the public," the Minister said.
"The programme of this Government includes increasing the efficiency and accessibility of services provided by notaries. Therefore, even if we face criticism, we will move forward with vigour, because as the famous US writer Elbert Hubbard said: 'To avoid criticism... you have to do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing'. That is what we will do, and we will do a lot to be nothing. We will also do better so that it is a legacy for the future of Lithuania," said Minister Mockus.
"We also hear the proposals of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries. <...> I believe that we will be able to listen, to understand and to find common paths for solutions together. The Lithuanian notariat has already proved its ability to adapt to changes. I am glad to see your active participation in the legislative process, your involvement in the modernisation of the legal system and your open dialogue with both the Ministry and the public. I believe that together we will create an even more efficient and advanced notarial system", - said Rimantas Mockus.
Currently there are 225 notaries working in 199 notary offices in Lithuania.
